What is Augmentin?
Augmentin contains a combination of amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium. Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body. Clavulanate potassium is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that helps prevent certain bacteria from becoming resistant to amoxicillin.Augmentin is prescription antibiotic used to treat many different infections caused by bacteria, such as , pneumonia, ear infections, bronchitis, urinary tract infections, and infections of the skin.
What is Amoxil?
Amoxil (amoxicillin) is a penicillin antibiotic that fights bacteria.Amoxil is used to treat many different types of infection caused by bacteria, such as tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, and infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin, or urinary tract.Amoxil is also sometimes used together with another antibiotic called clarithromycin (Biaxin) to treat stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. This combination is sometimes used with a stomach acid reducer called lansoprazole (Prevacid).
